Here is the latest in the scheduled execution of Oscar Ray Bolin in Florida.

All of his convictions were reversed at least twice due to legal errors, but new juries found him guilty again in all three cases. The Florida Supreme Court rejected a request for a stay of execution and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit also on Monday declined to grant a stay. The meal included a steak, baked potato, salad and lemon meringue pie.

Gov. Rick Scott signed Bolin’s death warrant in October. The 26-year-old Matthews was abducted from a post office in Pasco County, just north of Tampa. Bolin also received a death sentence for the murder of 17-year-old Stephanie Collins and 25-year-old Natalie Holley. All three women were stabbed. But Bolin’s case made a mockery of the justice system for decades. An appeals court once overturned a murder conviction because it held the trial judge did not properly instruct the jury on manslaughter, a lesser conviction.

Among the 40 people who attended the execution was Matthews’ mother Kathleen Reeves, who said she was relieved Bolin was executed.

“As to the possibility of ever forgiving Oscar Ray Bolin for (murdering my daughter) it will never happen”, she said.

“I didn’t know ‘em, never seen ‘em, never met ‘em”, he said.

Natalie Holley’s sister, Anita Holley, told the Tampa Bay Times she would attend the execution.

Bolin was set to die by lethal injection at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Florida State Prison in Starke. When the authorities first confronted Bolin about the killings, he was already serving a 22- to 75-year prison sentence in an OH prison for a 1987 rape of a 20-year-old woman outside of Toledo.

But cops said Oscar Ray Bolin’s first victim was Holley, and that she was abducted after she left work at a Tampa restaurant in 1986.

“For him to be strapped on a gurney and be injected with poison and murdered and killed I think that’s disgusting”, Brunvand told reporters outside of the prison about 30 minutes later.

While on trial, a woman who was on the defense team fell in love with Bolin. Rosalie Martinez had been a paralegal at the Hillsborough Public Defender’s office who was married to a prominent Tampa attorney.

The 53-year-old maintains he’s innocent. The Department of Corrections says he’s been calm and in good spirits.

“I can not imagine the pain they have suffered”, he said of the victims’ families. He claimed that evidence used to find him guilty was planted and tampered with.
