London-based new-music website Unsigned Band Review has launched its Emerging Icons series of album releases from unsigned artists curated by major acts. All tracks will be selected from a pool of musicians who have signed up to the UBR community.

Spotify has added a whole lot of musical content to its Facebook timeline. In fact, the streaming music outfit has crammed in 1,000 years of music history. “We’ve decided to take our page one step further and turn it into a destination where you can discover and listen to the history of music,” says Spotify.

Surprise, surprise. Myspace is the top UK music website of 11 major sites examined by TechRadar and Experian.  MySpace boasts a close to 30% of total visits to such destinations, ahead of Soundcloud on 28% (Grooveshark and Last.fm are third and fourth, respectively, writes Maria Stadtmueller.

Unsigned Band Review is relaunching as a ‘music industry social network’ and has announced a UK new talent initiative, Emerging Icons Academy which will see unsigned artists entering a development programme to learn all aspects of the music industry, writes Steve Mullins. The artist showing the most promise will be given the opportunity to record an EP with producer Sacha Skarbek (Adele, James Morrison, KT Tunstall).
